From an esoteric point of view your birth chart is a portrait of your soul's intention for this lifetime, the lessons to be learned, qualities to develop, problems to be resolved, service to be rendered.  From that perspective, the choices one makes in one's daily life have reverberations that may last beyond even this lifetime.

This report is written to help you clarify your lessons and goals, illuminate your struggles, and encourage you to move in the direction of your true purposes.

The best to you on your journey...

Chapter 1: The Moon

The placement of the Moon in your birth chart is very significant from a karmic perspective, as it indicates the accumulated karmic tendencies, both positive and negative, that you carry from your past incarnated experiences on earth.

While the Sun reveals your intended purposes and lessons for this present life cycle, the MOON represents what you have already done and developed, hence, what is instinctive and natural to you, and what you tend to do over and over again. Your childhood is also reflected in the Moon's placement, as it is through those childhood circumstances that any unresolved past-life issues are re-stimulated.  Your subconscious predisposition is indicated by the Moon's position.  It is the psychic imprint of the past.  The nodes of the Moon describe behavior patterns from the past, as well as delineating a direction out of outworn or overdone behaviors and habits.

Moon in Leo:

You have a deeply ingrained sense of personal dignity, and a certain magnanimity of feeling, that prevents you from acting in a petty, spiteful, or small-minded fashion.  Even when under stress you like to think of yourself as "above all that" and you may well be, but you may also have a strong subconscious need to impress others, to be thought well of, so that you withhold any less-than-noble responses and feelings you may have.  Though usually warm and sunny, you cool off considerably when your pride has been wounded and you will frequently hide your hurt from the world because of your incarnational past (in which you have been in roles of authority, position, and honor in your circle), you tend to feel that you must protect others from your own pains and troubles.  Rightly or wrongly, you subconsciously believe that "others are depending upon me, I have to put a bright face on, and not let them know I'm suffering, the show must go on!". While people generally do, in fact, appreciate your positivity, this attitude tends to exaggerate your importance and keep others from knowing the real human being behind the smile.  Usually you have only a chosen few, a small inner circle of devoted fans and supporters, in whom you will really confide.

Previous lifetimes as an actor or entertainer are also indicated, which give you a natural gift for performing and the desire for an audience.  You are adept at dramatizing your feelings, really playing them up, and projecting your emotions for effect.  So instead of down playing your pain, at times you milk it for all it's worth!  These histrionics may or may not be obvious to others, for you may play them out only on the stage in your mind, but certainly there is a strong habit of personalizing everything and dramatizing your emotions. You rather enjoy a bit of melodrama.

In part, you are motivated by deep subconscious memories of past glory of being the champ, the best, the star of the show and you still seek top billing, at least in some area of life. Your need to be in charge stems from this; you find yourself naturally gravitating toward leadership roles such as, head of the department or head coach, in short, the one "calling the shots". Because of your instincts for leadership, if you are not in charge you tend to upstage the person who is, usually without even realizing what you are doing or why.  You have a knack for drawing the attention toward yourself.  You will be noticed in one way or another, and this personal recognition is very important to you.

You are extremely uncomfortable in impersonal environments, and most definitely do not want to be just a cog-in-the-wheel. Large companies where there is little room for personal expression and creativity are not for you.  You have a strong creative bent. You also see people as individuals, not functions (it's Joe, not "the Mailman", Caroline, not "the Secretary"). You bring warmth, color, energy, humanness, heart, and joie de vivre into whatever environment you are in.  You have a personal touch which is much appreciated.  At your best, a sense of personal honor, integrity, sincerity, and pride suffuses all that you do.

Deep within, you feel that you are someone special and that you deserve the lion's share of life's bounty.  You expect great things for yourself and when you are willing to work for them, you often excel.  But when things do not work out well for you, you are often perplexed and more than a little put-out. ("How could this happen to ME?" or "How could I have gone unnoticed?") To put it bluntly, you can be a big baby!  Learning to view things from a larger, more inclusive perspective (everything does not revolve around you), and that everyone is special, are two important lessons for you.

Moon Square Neptune:

Your sense of wonder and your openness to the unseen, subtle, spiritual dimensions of life are two of your gifts.  You are extremely sensitive to the energies and currents of feeling around you and, because you are so impressionable and receptive, you are influenced (even duped) rather easily.  Throughout your life you maintain a certain childlike belief in magic and in wishing, and you tend to escape into the inner world of your imagination (or anesthetize yourself with movies, or soap operas, or food) when the outside world seems either too dull or harsh for you.  It is important for you to learn to deflect negative or turbulent emotional influences in your environment, as you tend to get "sucked in" to others' feeling-world.

The "wonder-child" aspect of yourself can be invaluable, connecting you with the world of spirit and your true home. Along with this is a strong current of emotional idealism and devotion to the Mother.  This gives you a great capacity for nurturing, empathy, mercy, and compassion, yet there is a downside to this: a tendency to become a martyr.  Beware of sacrificing yourself to take care of other people or to try to rescue or "save" them.

Excessive dependency, passivity, and wishing to be taken care of are all themes around which some of your greatest challenges revolve.  Either you yourself tend to succumb to such impulses (feeling yourself to be weak, needy, a victim) or you may attract other people into your life who play that role.  For men, this can also lead to yearning for the perfect woman who will love and accept them unconditionally and meet all of their needs - but who inevitably disappoints, as flesh-and-blood women cannot fulfill that illusion for long.  Women, on the other hand, may try to be the perfect woman, all-accepting, all-giving. Either of these can be traps for you.

You also need to be extremely cautious with intoxicants, mood-altering substances or practices as these can create much confusion and distort your perceptions to the point where you lose touch with your genuine mystical and intuitive abilities.

North Node in Aries:

In your past you tended to rely a great deal upon significant others, particularly your mate or life partner, and your growth direction now is to develop greater autonomy and self-reliance, perhaps becoming what some would call more "selfish".

North Node in 10th house:

Your past tendency is so much a part of you, and is reinforced by your family, parents, or cultural tradition, so that it may be particularly tricky for you to even be aware of how compulsive it is.  Your "new attitude" or growth direction can be applied to your professional or vocational goals and to achieving something concrete, with great success.

Chapter 2: The Sun

The Sun in your birth chart represents the primary creative thrust for this lifetime, those qualities you are to develop (or further develop) and express, and your current life focus.  This may be in harmony with your instincts and your emotional habits, or along completely different lines.  The Sun represents your conscious identity in this lifetime.

Sun in Scorpio:

For you, this lifetime revolves upon the theme of experiencing your emotional depths, and penetrating the surface of life to explore the hidden, dark, secret or taboo.  What lurks in the shadows or in the inner depths of the human soul is what concerns you, and it is your task to become aware of and express what you find hidden there.  What society at large may fear or repress, you are fascinated with and drawn to experience and understand.  This may include both a fear of and absorption with death and the mysterious side of life, delving into the politics of sexuality and power and experiencing strong, "dark" emotions such as passion, jealousy, revenge, or a desire for control.  At times you may feel like a misfit, that your yearnings, desires, and true inclinations are somehow wrong or bad, or even that you are bad.  You could take on a social persona which is dark and hints at something sinister (such as always wearing black, going out only at night...).  However, your feeling for the dark undercurrents of life and your drive to experience life passionately and intensely, without avoiding any of it, may be expressed less overtly.

You are attracted to crisis, those transition times in life when people are tested, when their social masks do not matter anymore, and the true person is revealed.  You may feel most alive and most yourself in life and death situations, whether you are involved in saving lives (as a doctor or healer), in destroying them (as in war), or simply by seeking out dangerous situations and dangerous companions.  Often you will create your own crisis (especially in the arena of your close personal relationships) in order to pit yourself against the challenge. Other people may view this as a self-destructive urge in you, a masochistic (or sadistic) streak.  The truth is you would rather feel pain, than to feel nothing at all.  You want to be fully immersed in it, deeply and passionately involved.  (Life for you is not a spectator sport).

You have great compassion and sympathetic feelings for those suffering or in pain, whether physical or emotional, for you are no stranger to it yourself.  You may feel scornful of those people who appear to glide through life, never experiencing any real tragedy or pain, or plumbing their own depths.  In love, it is the possibility of loss or betrayal that intensifies the experience for you.  Put simply, you do not accept anything at face value, you instinctively know that there is a dark underside for every light surface.  Understanding this shadowy side is a key to fulfilling your life purpose.

Personal relationships may be an obsession of yours, the arena where your passion and drive for intense closeness and emotional union expresses itself fully.  However, trust, vulnerability, and relinquishing control are not easy for you. Because of this, and because you have a great capacity and need for emotional intensity (which not everyone can match) your human relationships are frequently not smooth.  You go to extremes. With you it is usually all or nothing, whether you choose total celibacy or complete immersion and involvement.  A really loving intimate relationship can be tremendously healing for you also, especially if you allow your partner to see who you really are, including those aspects of yourself you usually hide and consider ugly and unacceptable.  Being unconditionally accepted by another may be the first step toward embracing your own "darkness", which will be a lifelong lesson for you.  The fairy tale perhaps most relevant to this task is "Beauty and the Beast".  Rather than rejecting your beastliness (your negativity, fear, or not-beautiful emotions or impulses) you must learn to look at and lovingly accept them, thus, transforming yourself.  Ultimately it is those who have struggled with and come to terms with their darkness who are able to bring light, understanding and healing to others who suffer, and this is part of your life's purpose.

Sun SemiSquare Venus:

How to be true to yourself while also enjoying close personal relationships is a pointed issue for you in this lifetime.  When you compromise or give up too much of yourself for the sake of making other people happy or keeping a relationship intact, a lot of internal friction is created and you feel increasingly empty or uncertain of your identity.  At other times you may see-saw to the other extreme and expect others to totally support your creative efforts or to revolve their lives around your needs.  Finding a balance between blending intimately and being authentically yourself is your challenge.

Chapter 3: Rising Sign

The point that was on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth is called the ASCENDANT, or rising sign.  While the Sun describes your conscious direction and current life focus, and the Moon your subconscious predisposition and past, the Ascendant indicates a way of being that transcends and embraces past, present, and future.  It describes the way you engage and merge with the outer world and how you bring through into life the energies depicted by the Sun, the Moon, and the rest of your birth chart.  Everything is filtered through the Ascendant from an esoteric point of view.  It indicates your soul's function and thus a key part of your destiny.

Cancer Rising:

Whether you are male or female, you carry the qualities of and in some way embody the archetype of the mother.  You will find that you attract people who need care, understanding and encouragement.  Devotion and maintaining emotional soul-connections to life is the heart of your approach to living.  You are very sympathetic in both the sense that you feel for others and also in the sense of "sympathetic resonance".  Your own feelings and moods will often reflect the dominant feeling tone in your environment.  You absorb the atmosphere around you and thrive in surroundings that are home-like, personal, supportive, and cooperative.

When out of balance you are hypersensitive to hurts and slights, are prone to extreme moodiness, worry, and self-pity, and/or feel like an insatiable needy child yourself. Self-nurturing and self-responsibility are thus extremely important for you to develop in order to bring out your best.

Your ruling planet is the Moon.  You probably felt a strong identification with the description of your Moon's placement as you read the first section.  This is because in your case the Moon not only reflects something about your past and inherited tendencies, but also colors your entire way of relating to the world now.  It describes an important aspect of your soul's function.

Cancer Rising and Moon in Leo:

Your Moon in Leo suggests that your sympathetic and nurturing qualities are infused with warmth, generous feeling and a strong sense of personal pride in the ones in your care.

Chapter 4: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel

Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master and overcome them.  Yet it also points to the aspects of life which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them patiently.

Saturn in Aries

You have a hard time asserting your own will and desires, and believing that you have a right to them, and thus you are apt to struggle with or avoid situations which might call for direct confrontation or positive, decisive action on your own behalf. Secretly fearful of failing, you withhold yourself from many of the challenges and battles in life, yet at the same time you may resent others who fully and freely "go for it", expressing their own will without reserve.  The more you stifle or restrict your own natural aggressive, competitive or "selfish" urges, however, the more internally hostile you are likely to be, and the more cut-off and alone you are likely to feel.  Paradoxically, the more forthright and open you are about expressing your initiatives and putting your own will into action, the less acute your feelings of isolation and loneliness become.

There is within you a rather harsh, dictatorial voice (sometimes playfully referred to as the inner Mussolini) which urges you to control yourself, keep a stiff upper lip, to never step out of line or show any weaknesses and, above all, that it is very IMPORTANT to win.  One of your parents may have been particularly militaristic and critical of you also.  Learning to subdue this internal critic which inhibits you from bringing yourself fully into life, or from even trying to achieve your real desires is an important task for you.  Developing courage, confidence and faith in yourself is also the lesson here.

Saturn in 9th house:

Much of your personal struggle lies in the realm of ethics, morals, faith, ultimate beliefs and discovering an over arching ideal or truth on which to base your life.  In your quest for answers to some very broad questions, there may well be periods of great doubt, skepticism, even cynicism or hopelessness, because your faith will be repeatedly tested.  Seeking a larger perspective in response to personal losses, setbacks or other painful experiences is apt to be a significant part of this (i.e. "Why do bad things happen to good people?").  You will not be able to slide by without deeply questioning and critically examining your basic assumptions about life, what is true for you personally, as opposed to what is held to be true according to popular sentiment or whatever religious teachings you may have imbibed while young.  You will have to hammer out a philosophy of life based on your own inner searching and life experience.  This may be a lonely road, something you have to do on your own to a large extent, without the aid or crutch of outside authority.

If you turn away from the challenge of finding meaning in the midst of life's thorns; if say, you become disenchanted with any sort of spiritual quest at all, you may find yourself chronically depressed or afraid to take any real risks in life. Ultimately, the question you must answer is what or who do I trust?

One pitfall for you is a tendency to become narrow, humorless, rigid and dogmatic in your convictions.  Beware of trying to be the conscience or law-giver for other people or imposing heavy, moralistic guilt upon others (or yourself) for mistakes.  The following quote may be especially apt for your particular growth process: "Religion is for people who do not want to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have been to hell and do not want to go back".

Saturn is Retrograde:

All of the above is complicated by the fact that you carry a rather heavy burden of self-doubt, mistrust, or guilt over having let yourself and others down in your past, when you struggled (and failed) with these same issues.  You now have the opportunity to correct your course, make amends and resolve a difficult karmic tangle, or a difficult state of mind.

Saturn Square Mars:

Overcoming a lack of confidence, fear of expressing or asserting yourself, a harsh or discouraging early life, and/or a deep distrust of the "masculine" side of life (including your own forcefulness) is part of your karmic package in this lifetime. You will struggle against oppression, from a parent, prevailing circumstances and attitudes in your environment, or your own inhibitions and fears, and may receive very little external support.  Difficulties and frustration in sexual or creative expression, with men, with anger and competition, or with authority is likely.  If you do not allow yourself to become resentful and bitter, you can become strong and self reliant through patience, self-discipline, persistence, hard work and building your dreams one small step at a time.  Healing your wounded male side will be an important key to your eventual fulfillment.

Chapter 5: The Hard Aspects

The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have brought into this life.

Mercury is Retrograde:

A prior lifetime in which you were discouraged to think, learn, or express your ideas is indicated.  This may have carried over in this lifetime as a mild learning problem in childhood, or inner (somewhat unconscious) doubts about your ability to learn or to communicate.  Thus, you have a habit of rechecking, reconsidering, reviewing, and rethinking everything before you put it out.  You may even have a desire to learn about subjects that seem archaic, to learn about those things which were denied to you in the past.

Venus Conjunct Pluto:

The realm of human love and human relating is not one you can enter into lightly or casually.  For you it is always an all-or-nothing, whole-hearted, and ultimately transformative experience.  Great joy and tremendous pain, betrayals, intense desire, and longings are part of your soul's path and pattern in this lifetime.  A deepening of your heart and your capacity to love, as well as a purification of your values, is what this is all about.  It may be the loss of one particular person in a particularly poignant and excruciating way, or a series of encounters which bring you ever deeper into your own attachments. Even abusive relationships may be the arenas in which this occurs.  Ultimately, you are meant to discover the power of love to heal, to renew and resurrect your own and others' lives.

The darker side or temptation on this path is to use love (or attractiveness, and others' love for you) to control, manipulate, or force your will upon them.  A love of power -instead of the power of love - would then be your downfall.

Chapter 6: Soft Aspects

The following is a description of your GIFTS and STRENGTHS which can help you work with your major life challenges. These are abilities and qualities of heart, mind, and soul which are quite natural to you.  You probably take them for granted. Because these represent the lines of least resistance for you, you may rely too much upon them at times; hence, there are some cautions suggested.  Still, these are the areas where good flows into your life and/or where you have considerable inner resources.

Sun Sextile Mars:

One of your strengths is your high level of physical vitality and energy.  You are an ACTION person, a doer, a go-getter, and you can pack more activity into a day than most people do in a week.  You enjoy fighting the good fight, taking on challenges with relish, and you are inherently quite competitive but not in a way that provokes anger or fierce opposition from others.  Because in the past you have succeeded in achieving your goals, you now have an inner expectation of success and of being a winner, a natural self-confidence that you draw on without even thinking about it.  You have developed many positive "masculine" qualities, such as courage, will power and the ability to take initiative.  You tend to be a leader without having to struggle or coerce others into accepting your authority.  Occasionally, however, you may overpower other people without realizing it, since they may not have the energy resources that you do.

Sun Sextile Jupiter:

Your life is blessed in numerous ways because you have developed intuitive vision (the ability to envision greater possibilities, to "see" potentials and future developments) and faith (in yourself, in the Universe's essential beneficence and abundance, and/or in a higher power that guides and protects you).  Because you feel and know your connection with the whole, God, the Tao (or whatever you wish to call it), your actions and intentions are more likely to be in harmony with the larger reality and hence successful.  What may appear to be your prodigious good "luck" is actually an inner alignment with this larger reality which enables you to take risks and trust, and to be generous knowing you have an inner source of support.  You make choices and decisions not based solely on self interest. Innately optimistic, you tend to radiate and project positive expectations into the world, thereby actually creating or drawing them unto yourself.  Because you are open to miracles, you are more than likely to see them and make them happen.  The only drawback to all of this is a tendency to get lazy, because things come so easily to you.  It seems as though you wear a halo, as though you are especially favored by the gods, so to speak.  As long as you are willing to share your good fortune, however, this should not be a serious problem.

Mars Trine Jupiter:

You have developed the capacity to direct your masculine/active, yang energies in healthy and positive ways. Thus, you have confidence in your "masculine" strengths and abilities.  Ennobled by ideals of fair play and concern for the broader social implications of your choices, your actions are most often fortunate, leading to success and increased opportunities.  A gift for leadership and inspiring others is also yours.  Physical playfulness is an important way you can re-create and rejuvenate yourself.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

Collectively, this is a time in history that enables you and those of your generation to advance spiritually through a heightened awareness of the invisible and intangible realms.  A rebirth of spirituality through direct contact with higher forces is occurring in this generation.  This contact takes many, many forms, including a compelling interest in life beyond death.  You may or may not have a personal involvement with this, as it is a group karma rather than a primarily personal one.
